I painted this in preparation for an upcoming Wine & Watercolors event. Every September there’s a balloon rally in Prosser, Washington, USA, and this year we’ll be painting hot air balloons at Millrandt Vineyards after the morning lift off. Whee!
I love the vibrant colors and myriad of designs in hot air balloons. Such a fun subject to paint. In this version, I asked two of my besties and painting buddies, Suzi and LaVonda, to “pick a color.” And they did. Fun stuff! I ended up using:
Holbein’s Peacock Blue (LaVonda’s choice)
Daniel Smiths’ Ultramarine Turquoise (LaVonda’s choice)
Daniel Smith’s Phthalo Yellow Green (Suzi’s choice)
Paul Jackson’s International Orange (my choice, natch)
